Know About Cereal Recall

On April 5, 2008, Malt-0- Meal Company announced to voluntarily recall its Unsweetened Puffed Wheat and Unsweetened Puffed Rice after it found the presence of salmonella in one of its product produced on March 24, 2008.

According to Malt-0-Meal Company officials, although there are no reports of illness but they recalled all puffed wheat cereals and unsweetened puffed rice because these products ranging from April 8, 2008 to March 18, 2009 might have been exposed to the sickening agent.

The company distributed recalled product marketed nationally under the brand Malt-O-Meal brand as well as private brand labels including Weis Quality, ShopRite, Pathmark, Jewel, Giant, America’s Choice, Tops, Shaw’s, Laura Lynn, Hannaford, Food Club and Acme.
